2020 Beer in Review
A look back at Handoff’s top beverages of 2020 and some predictions for what’s to come in 2021!
2020 was a hell of a year. There’s no denying that no matter who you are.
Evidence to back that claim includes:
Grabbing a bucket and a mop for the rise of W.A.P. ☔
The fly that fell in love with Mike Pence’s Hairdo 🐜
That whole Tiger King thing... 🐅
MURDER HORNETS 🐝
Those mysterious monoliths showing up in Utah and elsewhere 👽
And… oh yeah… a giant, world-changing, international pandemic 😷
Anyway, as much as we love pop culture and the wild, whacked-out wonders we witnessed in 2020, we're in the drink business. So... here’s a look at what we’re going to call 2020: Beer in Review.
Below are the top five drinks of 2020 according to heavy research and data analytics. Closely following are three projections for what people will be soaking up like a squadron of sponges in 2021.
Without further ado, here’s the Beer in Review just for you. Woohoo!
Drinks of the Year 🤩
White Claw Variety Pack
Think back to their roots… White Claw has come a long way and totally changed the alcoholic beverage game along the way.
Matua Sauvignon Blanc
Reality TV was consumed in record numbers in 2020, so good to know it’s being watched in good company with this tasty white. It paired quite nicely with Tiger King.
Upslope Variety Pack
Upslope employs a genius brigade who put a little extra sumpin’ sumpin’ in their drinks. I guess people figured that out this year.
I mean, pretty much everyone mastered their own rendition of the “Quarantini” this year. The universal ingredient? Tito's.
Station 26 Juicy Banger IPA
We love to see our home state supporting one of our favorite local
We love to see the good people of #HandoffNation supporting local breweries like Upslope and Station 26. That means Coloradans love quality beer. However, based on the popularity of Tito’s, Matua Sauv Blanc, and White Claw, it seems… We also like to party. Party on #HandoffNation! And keep supporting your favorite local breweries and distilleries!
2021 Projected Liquid Leaders
The seltzer market is becoming quickly saturated and there’s an innovative twist on alcohol coming out with hard kombucha...probiotics in booze? Good for your body and your soul. What’s not to love?
We know what these guys are up to. We know how good their cocktails are. We know you want to find out. And we hope you try them all. Crafthouse was an easy selection for us going into 2021.

This year will be a big party on the back end. We have a feeling tequila is going to make a massive comeback and outshine Tito’s as the hard liquor of the year. Where’s Lil Jon when you need him?
